PSHP has several active committees that are looking for new volunteers. Serving on a committee is a great way to get involved in the society and meet colleagues from around the state. Most committees meet once per month by conference call and make decisions along with the PSHP Board of Directors.

Committee Descriptions:

Awards and Nominations

The Awards and Nominations Committee is chaired by the PSHP Immediate Past President. This committee is responsible for recruiting and selecting the PSHP Annual Awards nominees and recruiting the PSHP Board of Directors candidates each year. Members of this committee are most active in the winter and spring, when the nominations windows are open. This committee mainly communicates via email and has occasional conference calls.


The Finance Committee shall prepare the Operating Budget for the Society each year. It shall also serve to advise the Board of Directors on the financial position of the Society. It shall oversee the audit of the financial records of the Society at least annually.


This committee is responsible for leading PSHP’s recruitment and retention efforts. They review member benefits, develop ideas for new member campaigns, and are active in reaching out to members. The membership committee meets once per month via conference call. 

Legislative Advocacy

This committee is responsible for identifying issues pertinent to health system pharmacists in the state of Pennsylvania, monitoring pieces of legislation and regulatory updates, and advocating for the interests of health system pharmacists. This committee meets once per month via conference call. 

New Practitioners Network

This task force is dedicated to recruiting and retaining PSHP’s newest members. They focus on growing engagement among newer practitioners members. This committee is currently looking for a new Chair. 

Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician Committee responsible for planning Pharmacy Technician educational programming, collaborative networking events and advocacy for the profession.  This committee meets once a month during conference calls.


This committee is responsible for planning the PSHP Annual Assembly, in addition to other educational opportunities throughout the year. They work to recruit speakers and spread the word about educational events. They are instrumental in making the Annual Assembly and other programming a success. The committee meets monthly via conference call.

Public Relations

The Public Relations Workgroup distributes information to members, non members, and the public. They work across all PSHP’s front facing platforms (web, social media, and email) and interact frequently with the membership and new practitioners network. This committee communicates frequently via email and also have a monthly conference call to organize the monthly newsletter.

Pharmacy Benefit Manager Advisory Group

The Pharmacy Benefit Manager Advisory Group is being formed to provide guidance and advisement to the Legislative Committee. The group will focus on state government related issues and opportunities related to  PBM driven initiatives that impact health system pharmacy and our patients including, medication access and affordability, health system based specialty  and community pharmacy programs.
