The Community Service Award is intended to recognize an individual who has demonstrated community service through volunteer activities and/or performed in any organization or individual setting that enhanced the welfare of people in the community.

Criteria:

Suitable nominees include individuals who are PSHP members and have actively participated in, and shown, sustained contribution and commitment to the community service activities that have shown a demonstrated benefit.

Nomination Process:
Nominations will be sought from the local chapters, general membership, and non-members. There may be more than one (1) nominee from each chapter or member. Nominations will not be limited by geographic region. Supporting documents should include:

  • Nominee's Curriculum Vitae and/or resume
  • A letter of recommendation from the nominating individual that describes the nature of, quality, accomplishments, and benefits of the nominee's community service activity
  • Written testimony from individuals and/or organizations recognizing the individual for their participation in the community service activity
  • A letter of endorsement from the local PSHP chapter of which the nominee is a member

Selection Process:

All nominations, with endorsement from the local chapters, will be reviewed by the Awards and Nominations Committee. The Committee will submit the name of a suitable, qualified nominee to the Board of Directors for consideration and approval.

Award Presentation:

The award will be presented at the Annual Assembly, which takes place in the Fall, each year that a deserving individual is selected for recognition. The award will consist of an engraved plaque. The award recipient will receive transportation, one (1) night's lodging, and registration for the PSHP Annual Assembly.
