PSHP to Host Inaugural Pharmacy Stakeholder Meeting on Standard of Care

A Standard of Care (SoC) regulatory model is the degree of care a prudent and reasonable pharmacist with similar education, training, experience, and clinical resources would exercise under similar circumstances. Overall, SoC reduces the need for cumbersome rules-based detailed regulations. At least seven states have SoC regulatory approach codified into law or are actively advancing legislation. ASHP and APhA advocate for states to adopt this approach to regulating pharmacy.

PSHP will host an in-person meeting on Thursday September 17th immediately prior to the Fall Summit in downtown Pittsburgh focused on Standard of Care with key pharmacy stakeholders from across the Commonwealth. We look forward to collaborating with academic leaders and other invited statewide pharmacy organizations including PPA to move the dial on advancing this important future regulatory model for pharmacy in Pennsylvania.

This spring, PSHP members came together for a highly engaging Ambulatory Care Committee Round Table, fostering meaningful discussion and collaboration around advancing patient care and pharmacy practice. We also celebrated an important advocacy achievement as legislative efforts successfully moved HB 980 forward, reinforcing PSHP’s commitment to advancing the profession through strong advocacy and member engagement. In addition, PSHP hosted its first Annual Residency Conference, providing an outstanding opportunity for residents, preceptors, and pharmacy leaders to connect, learn, and showcase excellence in training and innovation. Special thanks are extended to all our committees, task forces, and planning committees for their unwavering dedication to moving PSHP forward while thoughtfully considering the needs of our membership and professional colleagues.
