The DVSHP Chapter hosted a Student Poster Presentation Night at Temple University School of Pharmacy earlier this month. Special thanks to all poster evaluators and presenters. All SEPSHP Chapter members are invited to attend the Annual Residency Showcase on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. This event allows residents to practice presenting the research posters they have worked so hard on prior to ASHP Midyear Annual Meeting. Come support your future colleagues and see what they have accomplished and provide guidance on questions the posters may receive at Midyear. The event will take place at Wyndridge Farm in Dallastown with welcome/appetizers (cash bar available) starting at 6pm followed by dinner and resident poster presentations, networking, and dessert/coffee. Calling all preceptors and student pharmacists! The DVSHP Chapter of PSHP Student Poster Presentation Night will be held on Tuesday 11/18/2025 at 5:30pm at Temple University School of Pharmacy.

DVSHP is currently looking for volunteers to evaluate student poster presentations. All evaluators will be provided the opportunity to receive continuing education credit. Please complete the response form at https://forms.gle/B76eYV9k9WzJcWQb6 by November 4, 2025 if you have interest in serving as an evaluator this year. Once all evaluators interested in participating are confirmed, an update will be shared with the group on the plan for evaluating the presentations.

The newest leaders of the Southeastern Chapter of PSHP were inducted on September 24^th and include Tony Bixler as President-Elect, Meredith Clark as President, Jen Sullivan as PSHP Board Representative, Joe Duprey at Secretary/Treasurer, and Shelby Amoo-Mitchual as Past-President. Chapter members also enjoyed the Chapter’s 2025 Industry Night held that evening at Lancaster General Hospital.

The Mideastern Chapter of PSHP is in the final planning stages of an industry-sponsored dinner meeting at Melt on October 8th. Chapter members look for registration information via email.

The Southeastern Chapter of PSHP invites Chapter members to attend the Chapter’s 2025 Industry Night on September 24th from 4pm to 7pm at Lancaster General Hospital in the Stager Conference Rooms. The BuxMont Chapter of PSHP invites Chapter members to attend a CE presentation titled Beyond the Pill: Systems Safety Strategies for Medication Risk Reduction presented by Jennifer Kunkel, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP, Medication Safety Officer and PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director at Jefferson Abington Hospital on September 9, 2025 at Maggiano's Little Italy in King of Prussia. The event is free for all PSHP members of the BuxMont Chapter who register to attend.

Meredith Clark, PharmD, BCACP received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Jefferson College of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. Meredith currently practices as an ambulatory pharmacist clinician at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. Her clinical interests include cardiology and endocrinology. Meredith is excited to serve as the new President of the SEPSHP Chapter to promote professional development, advocacy, and collaboration among health-system pharmacists through educational events and networking opportunities at the local and state-level. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, and playing pickleball.

Ultan McGlone, PharmD.

Ultan is a Clinical Oncology Pharmacist with UPMC McKeesport and the Hillman Cancer Center, with a focus on outpatient infusion center operations for underserved populations and expanding access to therapies like BiTE therapies. He is from too many places to list but has called Pittsburgh home for 20 years and graduated from Duquesne University Pharmacy School in 2016.

Ultan is a big fan of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, Rugby, and Formula1. When not working he’s usually visiting family in 6 countries over 3 continents. Ultan is the current President of the Western Chapter of PSHP.

Alison Merkel, PharmD, BCEMP

Alison is an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Allegheny General Hospital. She is from Scranton, Pennsylvania and completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Pittsburgh. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency through the University of Texas at Austin, St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, and completed a PGY2 residency specializing in critical care through the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. After residency training she entered her current role at Allegheny General and also became a member of PSHP.

As a clinical pharmacy specialist in emergency medicine she provides direct patient care at the bedside involving medication information, dosing, and preparation. She is a member of the Allegheny Health Network Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee, involved in multiple subcommittees, and the pharmacy representative for the AHN Stroke Committee. Alison precepts students from the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University, as well as PGY1 and PGY2 residents across multiple programs within AGH. She also oversees the best possible medication history program in the ED and works closely with pharmacy interns and technicians. Alison looks forward to continuing her involvement in the pharmacy student mentor/mentee program while serving on as Secretary for the WPSHP Chapter.

Meg Klingler, PharmD, MSHA

Meg is from Butler, PA, but acts like a true Pittsburgh native. Meg attended West Virginia University for pharmacy school and graduated from their 6-year PharmD program in 2021. Meg then went on to complete a PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) residency at UVA Health in Charlottesville, VA. After the completion of residency in 2023, Meg stayed on as the Sterile Compounding Manager at UVA Health until 2024. Since she returned home, she has taken on the role of Pharmacy Operations Manager at Allegheny General Hospital, located in the heart of Pittsburgh. Outside of work, she enjoys Pilates, visits to Geneva-On-The-Lake, and spending time with her golden retriever, Toad. Meg is the President-Elect of the Western Chapter.

Erika Drain, PharmD

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Erika is a dedicated staff pharmacist at UPMC Presbyterian, committed to patient care and professional development. She holds a Pharm.D. from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy and has extensive experience in medication therapy management and patient counseling.

Passionate about mentoring student pharmacists and advocating for patients, Erika is excited to contribute to the western PSHP chapter's mission of promoting excellence in pharmacy practice.

Outside of work, Erika enjoys painting, watching Steelers and Penguins games, and caring for her cat, Nacho. Fun fact: During her undergraduate studies, Erika spent several months abroad on medical mission trips throughout Central and South America, allowing her to gain a deeper understanding of diverse healthcare needs and provide essential medical services. Erika is a Board WPSHP Member-At-Large.

In addition to the above pharmacists, Paula Horn serves as Chapter Treasurer and Megha Patel, Gretchen Krajcovic and Nathaniel Bowden are WPSHP Board Members-At-Large.

The SEPSHP Chapter is currently seeking nominations for the 2025-2026 leadership year. Current positions include President-Elect, PSHP Board Chapter Representative, and Secretary/Treasurer.

The DVSHP Board of Directors is sending a call for nominations for the 2025 Jonathan Roberts Award, DVSHP’s highest honor.

This award is presented annually to a DVSHP member pharmacist of high moral character, good citizenship, and high professional ideals who has made contributions to health system pharmacy. The contributions should include accomplishments, achievements, or outstanding performance in hospital pharmacy practice or related disciplines.
