The 8th Annual Delaware Valley Society of Health-System Pharmacists Student Poster Presentation Night was hosted at Temple University on November 21st, 2019. At this event, students from Jefferson College of Pharmacy, Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Temple University School of Pharmacy presented their research to panels of judges for critique. An estimated 99 pharmacists and students were registered to attend this event.

A lecture titled, Defining Our Profession 2020 and Beyond: Entrustable Professional Activities, was presented by Dr. Ina Calligaro, Senior Associate Dean for Professional Programs, and Dr. Jacqueline Theodorou, an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor – both associated with Temple University’s School of Pharmacy. The lecture enlightened the students on trending changes in the assessment of third-year students engaged in introductory pharmacy practice experiences (IPPE). The presentation included the range of activities that any pharmacist should be reasonably entrusted with post-graduation, followed by discussion about whether any should be added or removed. The presenters then covered changes in the way that third-year students are assessed during their IPPEs, emphasizing changes from evaluation based on company to evaluation based on whether a student could be trusted to perform activities independently. The lecture concluded with a discussion on the advantages and disadvantages of this new assessment rubric.

Later, over thirty posters were presented by students, covering a broad array of clinical topics. A full list of posters presented is available on PSHP’s website in the event description. Each poster was judged on criteria that included aesthetic presentation, organization of content, and communication skills.  The event concluded with an awards ceremony, with the following winners:
