Meet Your Board - Christo Cimino, PharmD, BCPS, AAHIVP, DVSHP At-Large Board Member

Christo Cimino, PharmD, BCPS, AAHIVP is an Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He is originally from Carmel, Indiana and earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. He completed his PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice residency at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and went on to complete a PGY-2 Infectious Diseases residency at West Virginia University Healthcare. His interests within infectious diseases include mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance, the use of technology as an adjunct for antimicrobial stewardship, and antimicrobial use in special populations. A particular area of interest is oral antimicrobial use in patients undergoing bariatric surgery, a topic that he has published on in the field of HIV.

Christo’s current areas of practice include antimicrobial stewardship, HIV and Hepatitis C ambulatory care, the inpatient Infectious Diseases consult service, and outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT). He also has a passion for serving as preceptor for pharmacy students and residents and has served on Jefferson College of Pharmacy’s Preceptor Advisory Council. Christo is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP). His research experiences include daptomycin non-susceptible MRSA and VRE, outpatient antiretroviral prescribing trends, and clinical decision support tools for antibiotic prescribing in the emergency department. Christo’s goal is to become more involved with regional and state pharmacy organizations, and he is excited by the opportunity to be an active member of DVSHP in his current role as board member at large.
