Meet Your Board – DVSHP Board Member, Jennifer Andres, PharmD, BCPS

Jennifer Andres, PharmD, BCPS is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Temple University School of Pharmacy and a board member of the Delaware Valley Society of Health-System Pharmacists.  Dr. Andres attended Temple University School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at the Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center.  Following residency, she joined the faculty of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy in Suwanee Georgia where her practice site was an Internal Medicine service at the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center. After two years, she transitioned back to TUSP. 
At TUSP, Dr. Andres teaches in a variety of courses in the curriculum, from small-group recitation in the second professional year to large lecture courses in Pathophysiology and Therapeutics in the third professional year. Dr. Andres maintains practice sites as a clinical pharmacist in the Hepatology Clinic and the Stroke Prevention Clinic at Temple University Hospital. In the Hepatology Clinic, she provides patient education to those beginning Hepatitis C treatment and assesses drug interactions In the Stroke Prevention Clinic, she provides risk-factor reduction through medication management to patients with a history of stroke. She precepts pharmacy students and pharmacy residents in both clinical settings. Dr. Andres finds working with and mentoring pharmacy students and residents in the clinical setting fun and rewarding. 
Dr. Andres was elected to serve the Delaware Valley Society of Health-System Pharmacists Board of Directors in 2016. She has served on the programming committee and helped initiate new CE procedures in 2017-2018 that allowed for electronic claiming of continuing education credits.  Dr. Andres helped develop the student newsletter article feature for the Pennsylvania Society of Health System Pharmacists and currently assists with the PR Committee. She has enjoyed working with the Delaware Valley Society of Health-System Pharmacists and Pennsylvania Society of Health-System Pharmacists and looks forward to continuing her involvement this year.
