PTCB has modified our eligibility requirements to allow certification candidates who are within 60 days of acquiring a high school diploma or equivalent education diploma to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE). PTCB expanded our eligibility parameters to allow students nearing completion of high school to take the PTCE before graduation so they can get a head start on acquiring their PTCB credential. The eligibility expansion took effect on August 22, 2017.

Candidates who have not obtained their high school diploma before applying for certification must provide proof of high school completion (or equivalent) before certification will be awarded. Examples of acceptable documentation include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Copy of high school diploma
  • Copy of high school transcript with graduation date
  • Letter from a school official on letterhead indicating school and graduation date
  • GED diploma/results
  • Foreign diploma (Education Evaluation required; visit NACES for more information)
Candidates who indicate a future graduation date on their application will receive an email from PTCB explaining the documentation they are required to submit. They must reply by email with documentation attached within 90 days of applying.
