ASHP Press Release-ASHP Presents Distinguished Service Awards to Six Members

ASHP Members Recognized for Advancing Mission of Sections, New Practitioners Forum

Six ASHP members received Distinguished Service Awards during ASHP’s 50th Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition in New Orleans. Established in 2007, the ASHP Pharmacy Practice Sections and New Practitioners Forum (NPF) Distinguished Service Award recognizes an outstanding member from each Section and the NPF, honoring pharmacists whose volunteer activities have helped to advance the profession.

The 2015 recipients include:

Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners
Steven M. Riddle, Pharm.D., BCPS, FASHP


Steven M. Riddle serves as director of clinical development for Pharmacy OneSource/Wolters Kluwer Health, a company that provides cloud-based technology solutions and evidence-based content to support optimal quality in point-of-care delivery of health services. Riddle has 30 years of experience in healthcare, including inpatient and ambulatory clinical services, pharmacy administration, quality improvement, and informatics.

Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists
Erin R. Fox, Pharm.D., FASHP


Erin R. Fox is the director of drug information and program director for the PGY2 Drug Information residency at University of Utah Health Care as well as an associate professor (adjunct) at the Department of Pharmacotherapy, University of Utah College of Pharmacy. Fox is an advocate for changes to improve the ongoing national drug shortage situation and a recognized expert in drug shortages.

Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners
Lynn Eschenbacher, Pharm.D., M.B.A., FASHP


Lynn Eschenbacher is the national director of pharmacy operations for Ascension Health, The Resource Group, and an adjunct assistant professor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. She has presented nationally on performance improvement, medication safety, pharmacy involvement in achieving optimal patient outcomes, and the value that pharmacy provides to patient care.

Section of Pharmacy Informatics and Technology
Karl F. Gumpper, MMI, R.Ph., BCPS, CPHIMS, FASHP


Karl F. Gumpper is a pharmacy informatics manager at Boston Children’s Hospital. He was the first director of the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Informatics and Technology, where he was responsible for facilitating involvement in the Section by ASHP members who have informatics, technology, and automation experience.

Section of Pharmacy Practice Managers
Scott Knoer, M.S., Pharm.D., FASHP


Scott Knoer is chief pharmacy officer at the Cleveland Clinic, where he leads the pharmacy enterprise, which includes a $600 million drug budget and 900 full-time employees. He is passionate about improving public policy related to medication safety and population health through advocacy with professional associations, state boards of pharmacy, and state and national legislatures. He has successfully contributed to both state and federal law changes that positively impact patient care.

New Practitioners Forum
Christina Y. Martin, Pharm.D., M.S.

Christina Y. Martin is ASHP director of membership forums. She was formerly a pharmacy supervisor with Lancaster General Health where she managed pharmacy operations and clinical services for the outpatient infusion centers. Dr. Martin became engaged with ASHP as a student and has since discovered her passion for organizational involvement while completing an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience rotation at ASHP headquarters, serving ASHP and the New Practitioners Forum in various capacities.
