Attention ALL Pharmacy Technicians!!!

PSHP Pharmacy Technicians,

The PSHP Leadership is currently reviewing and updating the PSHP Bylaws which allows for one technician member shall be appointed as a representative to the Board.

Please see below for the updated PSHP Organization Objectives stressing the role and support for Pharmacy Technicians.


 1. To advance patient care and public health by promoting the professional interests of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacist interns practicing in hospitals, health systems, and other organized health care settings where the pharmacist is a member of the health care team through:

  • Developing and promoting professional standards for pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical care.
  • Promoting pharmaceutical care aimed at safe and effective control and medication use.
  • Fostering the training of competent pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy interns.
  • Developing and conducting programs for maintaining and improving clinical pharmacy practice.
  • Disseminating information about pharmaceutical care and optimal medication use.
  • Improving communication and collaboration among pharmacists, members of the healthcare team, and the public.
  • Promoting research and education in the health and pharmaceutical sciences in conjunction with the pharmaceutical industry and schools of Pharmacy.
  • Promoting the value of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

2. To foster rational drug use in society.

3. To advocate for the profession of Pharmacy and the role of the Pharmacist in the healthcare setting to the public, private, and legislative sectors.

4. To annually recognize those pharmacists and pharmacy technicians that have advanced care through research, practice change, and collaboration with other health care teams and professionals.


With the current and anticipated prominence of the Pharmacy Technician role in the practice of Pharmacy, it is important that Pharmacy Technicians are part of the conversation.

Expectations for this individual will be to participate in monthly PSHP Board Teleconferences scheduled for the first (1st) Friday of each month at 7:30AM. These calls are limited to one (1) hour.


In addition, this individual will be expected to serve as a resource for the various active and ad hoc committees of the Organization representing the interest of Pharmacy Technicians in Pennsylvania.
