The goal of this presentation is to become more comfortable with assessing a patient suspected of a toxic exposure as well as to discuss briefly management of some of the more common toxicities. This will set the stage for further toxicological CE opportunities this year as well as for presentations in the coming years.

Pharmacist Objectives

  1. List clinical data points used to evaluate patients with suspected toxic exposure
  2. Evaluate clinical data to determine the toxidrome(s) patient presents with
  3. Associate the toxidrome with the likely causative agent(s)
  4. Design a treatment plan for a given toxic exposure

Pharmacy Technician Objectives

  1. Describe the annual incidence of poisonings in the United States
  2. List medications commonly involved in toxic exposures
  3. Recognize medications commonly used as antidotes or treatments in a toxicological emergency


This program is free for PSHP members and $30 for non-members.

This program is intended for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.


Amedco is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.  Successful completion of this program qualifies for up to number of credits contact hours.  Full attendance is required.  No partial contact hours will be awarded for partial attendance.
