Program Overview

Join MEPSHP for our January dinner meeting on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Melt! Attendees will hear a promotional talk on Diversion from RxREACTS (Responsible Education on Abuse of Controlled Therapeutic Substances) and earn one hour of CE during Jean Scholtz's presentation, "Immunization Updates 2018".

Title: Immunization Update 2018

Pharmacist Objectives:
1. Recommend appropriate vaccines for individual patients using the updated 2017 adult and childhood immunization schedules and the ACIP recommendations to the 2018 immunization schedules.
2. Identify which pneumococcal, influenza, human papilloma, and meningococcal vaccines should be administered in different patients.
3. Explain the impact of pharmacist immunizers and their responsibility in recognizing recent outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases and increasing immunization rates.
4. Describe indications and appropriate use for recently released vaccines and those close to marketing.

Technician Objectives:
1. Identify the appropriate vaccines for individual patients using the updated 2017 adult and childhood immunization schedules and the ACIP recommendations to the 2018 immunization schedules.
2. Describe the indications of the pneumococcal, influenza, human papilloma, and meningococcal vaccines.
3. Explain the impact of pharmacist immunizers and their responsibility in recognizing recent outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases and increasing immunization rates.
4. List the names and indications of recently released vaccines.
