Federal Legislation

Provider status HR 592 and S 314 (Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act)

Provider Status is one of the most important legislative initiatives for the profession of pharmacy. It would amend Title XVIII in the Social Security Act to include pharmacists as providers and enable Medicare beneficiaries to access pharmacy provider services covered under Medicare part B, expanding patient’s access to health care.

Access to medical care is an issue for Pennsylvania residents in 59 of 67 Counties in the state, as 88% of Pennsylvania counties are considered Medically Underserved!
